Open World Games Are Better When They Leave You Wanting for more!

Although I enjoyed my time with Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, one thing I distinctly remember is how long it felt. I spent around eighty hours exploring Ubisoft’s extravagant ancient Greece, while I enjoyed it, what exactly I did while playing the game only comes up if I try to remember.I can remember chatting with friends and hunting down cultists. And that battle where I killed the Minotaur. One particular point of contention for me when playing the game was its map!

The size of a game’s explorable world can make it more enjoyable or tedious for players. Recent years have seen quite a few of such video games, including Borderlands 3 and Red Dead Redemption 2.

The open gameplay and inventive setting found in these games makes for an engaging gaming experience.

When a game world is too big it becomes harder to maintain player interest over time. At the 80-hour mark, a well-designed open-world game needs to have questing in the style of The Witcher 3 and Metal Gear Solid V’s design to remain engaging.

Open world games can be fantastic if they keep giving players new things to do; however, a game that doesn’t provide this is just tedious. Despite my enjoyment of Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, I found that clearing fortresses well before the end of the game was tedious.

Playing an open world game is a way to relax but when it runs out of steam and becomes work, you might want to discontinue playing.

Some people find happiness playing games for an awfully long time. But games often treat players that explore their games loyally as typical when they are actually rare. After all, if you’re going to spend hours upon hours on a game, it had better be the only one.

I’m by no means suggesting that all games should be 5 hours long. Some games require hours of playtime to reach a fruitful end. It’s simply about acknowledging that, just like books, or films, games can also be too long as well as too short, and that It’s better for a game to end while you still enjoy it rather than go on too long.

There are a number of openworld exploration games that you can checkout, and find the perfect game for yourself, a game which strikes the perfect balance between its game play and overall run time.
